Our Making Sense project provides a range of services aimed specifically at children with Profound & Multiple Learning Disabilities and their parents/carers.
We offer monthly meetings to provide support, advice and training for parents as well as sensory play sessions and access to our sensory room for children/young adults. Sessions will aim to promote communication, social interaction, and sensory & emotional development for the children/young person in a relaxed, supportive environment.
Profound & Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)
Children and young adults with PMLD have more than one disability, including a profound learning disability, communication difficulties and very often physical & sensory disabilities and complex health needs. The combination of these additional needs will result in the child/young person requiring a high level of support with most aspects of daily life.
For children/young adults we offer:
- Sensory play sessions
- Access to our sensory room
- A range of accessible activities
- Access to a range of specialist toys and equipment through our Lending Library
For parents/carers we offer:
- Advice and support
- Specialist training on a variety of subjects
- Opportunities to meet other parents/carers
